Primary Function:

Support senior estimating staff during pre-construction budgeting as well as stipulated bidding for projects assigned by chief estimator.

Typical Duties:

1. Responsibility for preparation of all or portions of estimates and budgets for projects assigned.  Conducts quantity surveys, pricing and subcontractor solicitation to insure complete and accurate estimates.

2. Identifies and solicits subcontractor and supplier participation to insure competitive estimates.

3. Participate in preparing ‘top sheet’ on Bid Day. Review assigned trade bids for accuracy and completeness prior to formal submissions.

4. Performance system analysis as required to identify cost savings and value engineering opportunities.

5. Provide through research and study, provide recommendations of means and methods, procedures, scheduling and cost estimates as required.

6. Coordinates plan and specification procurement and distribution with estimating department staff.  Assists in maintenance of subcontractor and supplier database.

7. Perform additional assignments as assigned by senior estimators.

8. Provide conceptual schedules in either MicroSoft Project or SureTrak

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:

Four year degree or equitable industry experience required.  Experience (5 years or less) in a similar capacity a plus however will consider new technical graduate. Knowledge of computerized estimating (MC² or Timberline), excel and bid solicitation systems (I-Sqft) preferred.  Previous experience with high rise vertical living, multi-family, commercial, retail and big box construction is a plus.  Scheduling experience in MicroSoft Project & SureTrak a BIG plus. Excellent decision making/problem solving skills and ‘team player attitude’ are important.

Comments:

Responsible for scope determination for assigned trade (for a given estimate) and quality work (budgets & estimates).  Interface with project management and estimating staff to insure work procurement goals are met.
