Primary Function:
Take charge responsibility for complete pre-construction budgeting and estimating for projects assigned by chief estimator.
Typical Duties:
1. Total responsibility for preparation of estimates and budgets for projects assigned. Conducts quantity surveys, pricing and subcontractor solicitation to insure complete and accurate estimates.
2. Identifies and solicits subcontractor and supplier participation to insure competitive estimates.
3. Review all final estimate packages and preliminary budgets to assure accuracy and completeness prior to formal submissions.
4. Participate in presentations to corporate management, clients and architects. Be actively involved in closing the “sale”.
5. Provide technical assistance in negotiating contracts, change orders, etc. as required.
6. Provide assistance in the study and recommendations of means and methods, procedures, scheduling and cost estimates as required.
7. Coordinates plan and specification procurement and distribution with estimating department staff. Assists in maintenance of subcontractor and supplier database.
8. Perform additional assignments as assigned by chief estimator
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:
Four year degree or equitable industry experience required. Extensive experience (7 or more years) in a similar capacity. Knowledge of computerized estimating (MC2 or Timberline) and bid solicitation systems (I-Sqft) preferred. Previous experience with high rise vertical living, multi-family, commercial, retail and big box construction is a plus. Excellent organizational, supervisory and decision making/problem solving skills are essential.
Comments:
Totally responsible for scope and quality budgets and estimates prepared. Interface with project management and estimating staff to insure work procurement goals are met.
